Our mission is to offer new safety- and cost efficiency enhancing services that utilize processed data for traffic weather service providers, road maintenance services, as well as providers of public transport and heavy traffic services.
Our vision is to enable the use of data gathered from vehicles and other sources by modern technology and innovative analyzing methods for improving traffic cost-efficiency and safety. This benefits widely both transport and infrastructure.
We work in co-operation with partners producing vehicles, vehicle computers and services. In research and development, our partners include VTT, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Aalto University, as well as Tampere University of Technology and University of Tampere.
eDAS is a real time system for buses. It helps to reduce energy consumption, keep the vehicles on schedule, and reduce speeding, thus improving the service level and passenger satifaction for the entire bus line. The system has the potential to reduce energy consumption by up to 20%.
eGrip detects slippery driving conditions fast, accurately and with low cost, by using vechicles moving in the road network as sensors. The method is based on constant measuring and analyzing of data received from the CAN channel of the vehicle. The solution is software-based, with no need of installing sensor equipment or extra measures taken by the driver.
Real time data gathered from vehicles can be applied for several purposes, including:
The driver assistance and slipperiness detection systems have been developed by VTT since 2004. Several research projects have verified the functionality of systems based on both inventions. The latest pilot project involving slipperiness detection was finished in 2016 and published in March 2016 by Finnish Transport Agency.
